Introduction about Ministry
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND The Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology was established on 12th September, 2021 by the President of the United of Republic of Tanzania. The Ministry combined roles exercised by previously Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Information Division of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports. The Ministry is meant to formulate and monitor implementation of policies on information and communication technologies and Postal services. It is envisaged to drive the digital transformation agenda in Tanzania amid the global fourth phase of industrial revolution as well as to foster smooth flow of information. MANDATE The President of the United of Republic of Tanzania created a Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology on 12th September. 2021, which is mandated to formulate and monitor implementation of Policies on Information, Information Technology, Telecommunications and Postal. The Ministry is also responsible for ICT broadband Back-Borne; Performance Improvement and Development of Human resources; Chief Government Spokesman; extra-Ministerial Departments, Parastatal Organisations; Agencies and Projects under this Ministry. Access to Information Technology, Telecommunication and Postal services improved; D. Digital Empowerment enhanced; E. Management of Information Technology, Telecommunication and Postal Services Improved; F. Public access to information improved ; and G. Institutional capacity to deliver its services improved. |
